Rotocard had it's origins in the late 1970's where the orginal carding machine - a Wm Tatum carder made in 1937 was imported by Colin Webby of Mapua, Nelson.
Since then the business has passed through several hands until it's present ownership by Gill Johnston and David Murray. It is now situated close to where Colin originally set the machine up, ironically on the same road - Old Coach Road, seemingly a fitting name.
While the carder was made in 1937 the fibre carding process is still carried out much the same as it was then. For Rotocard - the forte is in small runs for craft and other users of carded fibre and felting bats.
